If you are used to of sleeping on your stomach then you must have wondered that whether it’s healthy or not to sleep in this posture. The medical researchers say that it’s not healthy to sleep on your stomach. Even though the on your stomach sleeping pattern can be responsible for prevention of sleep apnea and reducing snoring to some extent, it has a number of health disadvantages too. Places Strain On Your Spine

It is a known fact that people who have a habit of sleeping on their back often experience some kind of pain in their joints, back or neck. This pain affects the sleep they get during the night and causes discomfort while sleeping. Due to these mild pains one can experience waking up in the middle of the night which can prevent people from getting enough sleep and cause irritation.

According to a medical research group sleeping on your back is also unhealthy for your back as this posture outs a lot of strain and pressure on the spine which can cause back pain and cause disturbance while sleeping. This pain is caused due to the fact that the middle part of the body is where most of the body weight is concentrated which makes it quite difficult to maintain a neutral position.

The stressed spine can cause stress to other parts of the body too which can cause pain throughout the body and cause discomfort which hinders a sound and deep sleep.

Causes Pain in Your Neck

Sleeping on your stomach can also prove to be stressful for the neck causing pain and create discomfort making it impossible to get a comfortable and sound sleep. While sleeping on stomach one has to turn his/her head towards any side which causes the neck to be twisted which outs your head and spine out of alignment and causes pain in those areas.

This twisting of neck whole night may be responsible for leading to some server damage and cause health hazards. The damage caused in neck due to this sleeping posture may not become evident in one night but it can cause discomfort if the same sleeping posture is adopted for a longer period of time.

Sleeping on your stomach must be avoided during the early stages of pregnancy as it is very important for mom to be to get enough sleep during the night and sleeping in this posture may cause acute back pain.
